Making Definition of "Sexual Orientation" Consistent across Laws

Washington's law against malicious harassment includes hate crimes based on a person's sexual orientation. We support legislation sponsored by Sen. Joe McDermott to expand the definition of sexual orientation in the law to include gender expression or identity. Doing so will make the malicious harassment law consistent with the protections in anti-discrimination laws.
